Staley Cardoza Lawyers is a boutique law firm combining experience with energy and a client-centred approach. Each of the partners brings an area of expertise which allows the firm to provide tailored advice across a full range of legal services.

We understand that some legal challenges represent stressful or difficult times and we are privileged to assist at these times.

When the firm was formed by Susie Staley and Rachel Cardoza in 1998, they unwittingly made history as the first “all women” partnership in Otago.

The firm has grown and developed an identity as a well-respected practice offering pragmatic advice and meaningful advocacy.

Russell Cassidy, a senior legal practitioner, established his own firm in 1999 and then joined Staley Cardoza in March 2013 as a Consultant. Russell has since retired and but remains part of the legacy of Staley Cardoza.

Julie Mander and Matthew Joyce joined the partnership in 2026. The new partnership continues the tradition and brings new specialist areas and innovation.
