Julie Mander

PARTNER

Julie has a background in estates, trusts, charity, governance, property, asset protection, elder law, and alternative dispute resolution. Advice is pragmatic and client focused.

Collaborating with accountants and wealth advisers will often enable the best management of substantial assets or funds and Julie is always happy to work with existing advisers.

Julie is also able to review and comment on strengths and weaknesses in existing structures.

In addition to her law degree, Julie has a Bachelor of Arts in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. These disciplines create a strong grounding in analytical thinking and understanding of complex challenges. More recently Julie has been exploring alternative dispute resolution within areas of practice and focusing professional development in these areas.

Previous roles include managing a busy trusts and estates team and managing the legal services unit as the senior lawyer at Trustees Executors Limited (since acquired by Perpetual Guardian).

Julie is also an Associate Member of the Arbitration and Mediation Institute of New Zealand (Mediator). Alternative dispute resolution enables parties to take more control of their situation and make their own agreements and arrangements rather than accepting the judgement of the courts. This can help to reach more efficient resolutions which would be outside of the jurisdiction of the court and can also help to maintain relationships between parties. Julie can represent parties who are negotiation of attending a mediation.

Julie enjoys problem solving and word puzzles, serving in the community, and, when time and weather permit, gardening, trekking, and paddle boarding.
